Getting to Orcas Island
You can get to Orcas by:
- Driving to the Anacortes Ferry Terminal and taking your car on the ferry
- Getting to the Anacortes Ferry Terminal by car, bus, carpool, or shuttle and taking the ferry as a “walk-on” passenger with pickup at the Orcas Ferry Terminal by Indralaya
- Flying to Orcas to Eastsound (pickup possible), Rosario, or Deer Harbor
Directions by Car
Take Interstate 5 north from Seattle or south from Bellingham to Burlington. At Burlington, take the State Route 20 exit to Anacortes. Proceed west to Anacortes and follow traffic signs to the San Juan Islands Ferry terminal.
Take the ferry boat to Orcas Island (note reservations are required. Please see the Ferry Information page
At Orcas:
Turn left off the ferry ramp and proceed approximately 6.5 miles.
You will pass the Orcas Island Golf Club on your right and a large pond on your left.
Just past the pond, turn right on Indralaya Road (look for the Indralaya sign).
Follow the gravel road straight ahead approximately 1/4 mile to the entrance. From there, the road winds through the woods and will rise up a small hill. Take the road to the left, passing cabins on your left, garden on the right. Continue down the hill to the dining hall for check in.
By Carpool
We are posting an online carpooling service for each program. To use this, you go to the link, and either sign up as a driver, or post that you would like a ride. This is an experiment for 2026 to allow participants to self-organize rides to Anacortes. The carpooling link is to carpool.com (there will be a unique link sent to all participants in a pre-program email).
By Bus
Busses from Seattle to the Anacortes Ferry Terminal take about 3 hours 45 minutes.
By Shuttle
Shuttle service directly from SeaTac Airport to the Anacortes ferry landing, along with other locations along that route, is available via the Airporter Shuttle.
Please schedule your travel: to arrive between 1 pm and 5 pm on the day your program begins. Drop-off at the ferry landing on the day your program ends will be between 8am and Noon.
You can make a reservation for pick-up when registering for a program.
By Air
Fly directly to Orcas Island via Kenmore Air. Indralaya offers pick-up and drop-off service for the Eastsound Airport only.
Please schedule your flight: to arrive between 1pm and 5pm on the day your program begins; to depart between 8am and noon the day your program ends.
Please note you are flying to Eastsound if requesting a pickup from Indralaya.
